Some people feel that soul winning and preaching the gospel is only for those who have been called into the ministry.
That is ridiculous.
Every Christian has been given the ministry of reconciliation. It is our duty to reconcile men to God.
The ministry of reconciliation is not only for preachers and ministers. It is for everybody.
The great commission was given to everybody.
As long as you are a believer in Jesus it is your duty to tell others about what you have believed.
Jesus says as you have received freely, freely give.
You have to freely give people the gospel.
Refusing to preach the gospel is disobedience to Christ.
Now this doesn’t mean that you have to stand in the middle of the street and scream at the top of your lungs about Jesus.
It is not about how you do it. It just matters that you do it.
Your ‘how’ is determined by what the Spirit of God directs you to do and perhaps even your personality or what is best for you.
Perhaps for some people God may instruct them to stand in the middle of the street and scream at the top of their lungs but that is not for everybody. God is not going to give that instruction to everybody.
For you it might be something that is within your comfort zone or it may be something that is outside your comfort zone.
Whichever it is, it is something that you can do and God wants you to do; so do it.
The great commission is compulsory for every Christian.
Someone once said it is called ‘The Great Commission’ not ‘The Great Suggestion.’
There is no sneaking your way out of it. You have to do it.
Someone had to answer the call and tell you the gospel.
In the same way, you have to answer the call and tell somebody else the gospel.
In the book of Ezekiel it is clear that God will hold you responsible for not delivering a message that God entrusted you to deliver to others
Ezekiel 3:18 KJV
When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Imagine God demanding the blood of those who you didn’t tell the Gospel from you on the last day. What are you going to tell him? What excuse are you going to give?
Now is your time to tell people about the gospel. Now you are on earth is your time for you to preach the gospel.
You talk. about everything else. You meet strangers and introduce yourself to strangers. You engage in conversations with people about Sports. You are eager to share your beliefs about your favourite sports team and why they are the best in the world. In the same way, you should be eager to tell people about your Savior; Jesus, and why receiving him into your life is the best thing you have ever done and the best thing they could never do.
It doesn’t take a theological degree to tell people about Jesus. Just tell people about him the same way you tell people about everything else.
It is not difficult to tell people about Jesus. Just open your mouth.
